Brief Summary of Project:
I just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar spot in room like this. Modeled some nostalgia with simple and complex shapes.
Workflow Methodology:
I searched google for the dimensions of a Nintendo system and controller, despite having one in the other room, and began modeling the shapes. I added detail as necessary to make sure the subtle hints of the NES were there, the ridges, that you may or may not remember. I used planes with .png textures to create the labels knowing this was not going to be a game assett. This allowed me to move things into their perfect spot and size without having to update a texture repeatedly. I then made the NES game cartridge which were surprisingly complex in overall shape as the two halves snapped and fastened together. I made the retro TV from a reference image I found just to try and stay in the era. Slowly things developed into adding more elements I thought people may find funny and memorable and just making sure everything stayed believable. All of the modeling was performed in Blender and all of the textures were either made or edited in photoshop. I rendered out the scene in Blender then added the groovy tunes in After Effects with a final render in Media Encoder.
